Season opener WNBL
Frankenbaskets lost to title favourites (107:74)

On Saturday, October 10, the junior Bundesliga team travelled to the German Performance Center for Basketball in Grünberg. It was clear from the outset that the Frankenbaskets had to prevail against a physically stronger and above all a consistently larger team. In the first and second quarters of the match, the girls were very impressed by it. The statistics then also showed the size ratio in retrospect. Team Mittelhessen grabbed 27 offensive rebounds, most of which were immediately converted into points, as opposed to 8 rebounds from the Frankenbaskets. The game was also clearly lost in half 1 with 57: 24.

However, the newly formed team fought exemplary in the second half and was variable in the defensive game. Through a pressing defense, some ball wins of the Fränkinnen, resulting fastbreak attacks, combined with simple points, were on the credit side. The favored Hessen team, for their part, could not continue the "loose" game from the first half and was also forced to send only its "best" onto the pitch.

The second half was designed to the full satisfaction of the coaches (50: 50).

The team spirit and fighting spirit gives us hope for the next heavy games.

Youth work in the Bamberg area is being stepped up

Already at the end of January 2020, Nina Förner, Jimmy Hummel and Petra Eichelsdörfer from SC Kemmern agreed that the youth work in the Bamberg area needs a strong boost again in order to be able to provide the majority of the performance teams, especially the regional league and Bundesliga team in the Bamberg area, with well-trained players. During several meetings with Kerstin Högen and most recently Ingmar Kühhorn (both DJK Bamberg) it was clear that the basis for this can only be achieved through constructive, "consensual" and healthy communication before and during the entire season.

The cooperation with the Youth League Female (WNBL), which is supported by both SC Kemmern and DJK Bamberg GEMEINSAM, is bearing its first fruits. The managers of both clubs are already in the process of ordering the organizational field, the training operation itself, has been running since mid-June.

As every year, as in the season 20/21, the players from Kemmern and Bamberg represent the team that will run again in the future under the name "FrankenBaskets".

As coach, the "Kemmerner Eigengewächse" Sam Gloser and Floh Eichelsdörfer take over the youth performance team. For more information, see Preliminary Reports on the Season.
